By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

i was diagnosed last November and my doctor recently told me I can stop taking my eliquis and now he’s just running some tests. I joined back in January when I was at my worst. Everything I felt were symptoms of PE but no one told me about the anxiety and depression that could come along with it. I didn’t know until I joined and saw people were experiencing the same symptoms. This support group really helped me. It’s been nearly a year and I’m hopefully going to be done with all of this soon. Let’s hope the test come back okay! I just wanted to say that it gets better. It takes time and A LOT of willpower to get through it but as long as you have the right support and keep a good mindset (no matter how difficult it is) then it should be okay.

Thanks. I was just diagnosed with a PE in my right lung. I am a 48 year old women. I have been scared and worried about my future but knowing that you and others have gone through this and are recovering well gives me hope. I know it won't be easy but I am trying to deal with this.

I was diagnosed in March. Had bilateral and saddle PE . My doctor told me at the time that I would be on blood thinners for a year if not the rest of my life. However I moved within the last 3 months and my new pulmonary doctor decided that I was in the clear since he thinks it was my birth control pills and I was traveling for 12 hours prior to the clots. However I am super nervous to be off my blood thinners. My anxiety has worsened since getting off the medication. But I hope to God everything will turn out okay. :) Just gotta keep your head up and go through each day. Hope you ladies recover soon and have a wonderful and happy life without all the worrying and anxiety that does go along with this diagnosis. Please keep us all updated with your recovery !

I was diagnosed with multiple clusters of small clots last week. Actually went to the ER with a heart rate of 212, though it was my heart but nope, multiple PEs. I got mine courtesy of being none weightbearing on my left leg and left arm from a fall 3 weeks prior. Had only stopped the Lovenox for 4 days when I got the PEs. I think the shortness of breath is the hardest part but I believe time will take care of that. I've been reading others symptoms and recovery on this site and it helps to know we're not alone in this.

The mental impacts of this illness were much worse for me than the physical, because without the security blanket of being on thinners, I thought every twinge could be a reocurrence. I had to work hard on that & remind myself that after being blindsided by an illness I knew nothing about, I now was much more educated on it & could recognize if things were really going south again. Once I got that under control, it was much better. It's been a few years for me post clot, & still get an occasional symptom that makes me worry once again, but most of the time I don't think about it. Recovering is not quick or easy, but it is possible. :)
