By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I had my 6 month CT ( at 5months) and they found no traces of the previous clots. The doc is making me stay on Warfarin until the 6 month period is over. Yea, progress at least.

D-dimers can be used with either DVTs or PEs. They're somewhat controversial since the result doesn't always indicate if you are or aren't clotting (other things can cause the numbers to go up). My doctor won't do d-dimers on me because I have chronic DVTs in my right leg. She doesn't think the results would be valid, since it might detect the previous clotting.
