By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
OK as most of you probably know by now if your on blood thinners you should be wearing a medic alert bracelet. These can be purchased more or less inexpensively at most drug stores, Wal Mart, Walgreen or by going to the medic alert website. Do EMT's and first responders look for the bracelets? Absolutely
Try not to get bracelets that are to fancy and look more like jewelry instead of a medic alert bracelet, or at the very least make sure the medic alert emblem is clearly visible. For those of you who have multiple medical problems they are now making medic alert bracelets that have a flash drive built into them that is a 4-6 G of memory so you can download your medical information and records onto the flash drive. More and more ambulances are now out fitted with computers that they can plug in the flash drive and read them using their usb ports. It's also great for hospitals. I purchased one for $39.00 it has the medic alert emblem on it and my doctor updates my medical info every time I go in to see him and he changes anything such as meds or medical issues. This is really cool because I don't have the best memory anymore, and now all my medical history is on this flash drive. Might not be for everybody but it is an idea.

My best friend when growing up is a hemophiliac and has had a medic alert bracelet since he was a little kid.
medical personnel are trained to look for medic alert bracelets. Even though I am not in the medical profession I would, but probably only because I have one.
I may get the ones with the flash drive. Thanks for the plug.
As Ferr says, as long as you have something in case of accidents, it probably doesn't matter too much what.
The whole bracelet was custom made for me by someone on ebay, search for italian charms. Under $50 and beautiful. I get lots of compliments and I like that I can change the charms or add as my conditions change. I live in a rural area and they told me they can't read the USB unless it has built in software, no computer in our ambulances either.
I recently went off the coumadin (yay!) and think the hardest thing to adjust to is not putting on my bracelet every morning. I still look for it several times a day. It felt comforting to me during the craziness of the last several months.
