By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Hello all! I have been a bit absent as of the last month or two, just a lot of stuff going on in my head I guess since coming off warfarin. Has been a constant 1 step forward, 3 steps back sort of thing. But, I have been reading and trying to keep up with all of you! Just didn't have much to offer. :o(
Got the call last week from my hematologist and after 3 rounds of genetic testing, I am now a lifer. So, started my warfarin this past Friday. Not in range yet, and I am sure it will be a while, but I feel good about the decision. Not thrilled that I need to take it, but nonetheless very happy one, for some answers, and two, to have a medication to help me. Just going to have to deal with the side effects, honestly not all that concerned about them anyway. Much rather deal with that than a repeat clotting event!
Apparently the one of concern (since day one actually) is the anticardiolipin igm. Beta 2 stuff came back borderline as well, but as I said this was the one to say yeah ok, you need to be on coumadin. No idea what it really means, but I do know it is acquired so that was a huge relief in terms of did I pass something on to my kids!!
So, all in all, just feeling like I can start to wrap my head around things a bit now and move on. (I hope)
