By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I'm curious if anyone has had any trouble post-PE qualifying for Life or Long Term Disability insurance. I'm looking to beef up some of my coverage and I was just curious if anyone has any experiences to share on the topic.

We were looking at it a couple of years ago and they wanted me to list every doctor I'd been to in the previous two years. At that point, about a year out from my PEs, the list was extensive. We decided to put it off until I was a little further out from the event.

The major thing I remember is the company we were looking at asked about several things specifically (asthma, diabetes, etc.) but didn't have a spot for "other" so it'd be possible to get coverage without really mentioning that I'm a lifer.

I think you just have to get the forms and look through them to see what they have to know for you to get coverage. I imagine that all of them are different in the information they request.
