Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
i forgot to introduce myself before i just started posting away. I'm male, 34, from new orleans and about 3 months out from my PE.
a lot of days i still feel like total crap, but i try to keep my smile face strapped on most of the time :-D
i had my PE about four weeks after a surgery on my ankle. i dont know if anyone else here has had this type, but mine is a saddle embolus. apparently the saddle embolus is a mean little b*stard, and takes a long time to heal if it doesnt kill you outright.
ive suffered with some panic/anxiety stuff since the PE, but im working on that too. its been a total eye opener getting on this website and finding this community of people thats gone through the same things i have. looking through some of the older posts, it totally resonates with me what some of you have said about not being able to explain to people that while you might look ok, you really feel lousy.
i just give thanks that im still up and breathing, and able to be banging away at this keyboard in the middle of the night...

Welcome to the "club" but sorry you had to join. I'm just past 3 months post PE myself. For me it has gotten loads easier over the past month (I was a disaster the month following PE), so if you're not there quite yet ... you will be. Hang in there!
i usually try to keep from thinking about how close it came if i can help it. i try to dwell on the positives.
