Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
In any case, I'd recommend you take notes on the numbers you're getting and just talk to the doctor about it when you see him again. Try to control the worry because you could start a cycle. But it's good to have the conversation with the doctor, it's good to have some dependable numbers to give the doctor. Do you mind me asking if your doctor asked you to keep track of this since coming off coumadin, or is this something you always do? I never had to keep track of it after my PE, although I've seen it slowly climb as I recovered. BP tends to be low after PE. In a way it seems good to me that there is a correlation in higher BP and higher HR. Symptom of PE would be an unusually low BP with high HR.
I also think it's a good sign that the BP and HR are in synch because, since my PE, I've tended to have high HR and lower BP.
On the bright side, other than feeling much fatigue, I feel a lot better these days.
I check my BP regularly, because before my PE, it tended to be on the high side. And, since my PE, the HR tends to be higher: best I can hope for is high 90s.
I will sure keep monitoring it. At least, a doctor will be with me on Monday, should anything go wrong.
I mean, if you're constantly getting high numbers, then probably time to ask your doc. And, in this case, it might also be time to check in with your doc, just to get his/her opinion on it. I mean, it is hard to tell what's going on if it is causing you stress (and if stress is causing it). Maybe get through everything you've got going on this week and re-evaluate in another couple weeks and check with your doc.
I'm keeping well hydrated, but it's hard.
Once tomorrow is gone by, I'll hope that the heart and BP will get back to some sense of normal. Then, I only have to make it until mid-April, when I go for the blood tests and can get back on the Coumadins. Because, added to everything is else the fear of clotting again while I'm off the the blood thinners. But, it will be good to know if there is, or isn't, a blood-clotting factor in my genes.
