Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Well, I'm two years out from multiple bilateral PEs today. Two years from being misdiagnosed at the minor emergency clinic and sent home. Two years from having to fight to get a CT in the ER. Two years from becoming a warfarin lifer.
But, I gotta tell you. I'm doing SO much better now than I was then! And, in a lot of way, this whole experience has given me great experience with finding strength inside myself and discovering which people in my life I can really rely on.
I still get aches and pains and SOB and anxiety every so often, but they are the exception now, not the norm.
Also ... and I think this is a good thing ... I had to write today's clotiversary on my calendar. The date of my PEs is not etched in my brain as a black day of doom, which means I'm moving on and there are other days on the calendar that are more important.
So, it does happen folks. It does get better.

This year will mark 17 years since my last DVT (1995) and 20 years since my first (1992).

It's great to know that you are well on your way to a complete recovery. Life is good and will only get better.
Thank you for bein an inspiration to us nutty newbies. I am struggling at the moment but feel hopeful from hearing about your experience.
