By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I had my first PE in 2008 when pregnant, then my second in 2011.
My second PE affected me a lot. I had a lot of trouble with anxiety about seemingly odd things. one of them was driving.
Over the last few years I have been working on challenging these fears.
I went to a foreign country, got sick, was Ok and then rode an elephant. (all in the space of a week)
I went up into the snow with my kids - 4 hr flight and 4 hr bus ride.
A couple of weeks ago I took my children to a different state (4 hr plane ride) and then drove 6 hrs to meet up with friends in yet another different state.
This was my children longest car ride and I did it by myself !
For those who drive distances on a regular basis it may seem like no big deal but for me this was a major achievement.
I feared that I would not be able to do many things ( i have a number of other medical conditions) and to do a 12 hr round trip in a car was amazing. We had the best time and I was able to spend some much cherished quality time with my children.
This has had a huge effect on my confidence, I have conquered what I feared for a long time.
I'm not sure what my next challenge will be but i can't wait...life is great...different, just as my perspective is different but wonderful!

But the fact that you are literally conquering your fears is awesome. I hope I find the strength and courage to do that too some day. I am now also afraid to be in the car for too long a period of time and fly.............but I always wanted to travel and I dont want that fear to stop me....
