After a fairly uneventful recovery since Feb 17 for my PE's, the last three days I have had increasing shortness of breath and a rapid heart rate. Last night I almost fainted. Of course I was scared to death that the PE's had returned. I was also scared that if I went to the ER they would blow me off like they did last time. No fears, they did NOT blow me off and ran every test necessary. The good news: not only did the ct scan show that I have NO new clots, the old clots are gone! The echo of my heart showed great improvement from the last one, when I was in moderate heart failure. My d dimer was negative, my arterial blood gases were normal. That was all very comforting.
The bad part? My normally low blood pressure is through the roof. They were fairly alarmed about it and my heart rate continues to be high even at rest and higher if I walk even a few feet.
Basically they told me there was nothing more they could test for that was emergent and I needed to follow up with some specialists. I was referred to a pulmonologist for some lung function testing, and a critical care doctor.
I miss being healthy, I don't like being worried. Anyone have any advice or information?
