By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Has anyone taken Clomid after having a PE? If so, what were the results? My PE was in May 2010, and was determined to be d/t Yaz BC pills only. I was only on anticoagulants for 6 months following my PE, and have not clotted since, even throughout a pregnancy and postpartum period.
My husband and I were not going to have any more children, but changed our minds just over 1 year ago. I was on the mini pill, and stopped taking it abruptly 1 week into my cycle, and got pregnant during that cycle. I miscarried a few weeks later. We have been trying to conceive for almost a year since then w/ no success. My OB/GYN said to come to see him in June, and that he would prescribe Clomid if I am not pregnant by that time. He said I should not be at risk for clots d/t my hx of PE. I've done online searches, though, and it seems that there are some people who have developed clots as a result of taking Clomid, but I am unable to find any information on anyone who has taken it after having a PE.
I'm not sure what I want to do. I desperately want a second child, but more importantly, I want to be here for my son (who is almost 3) and my husband, and I need to be able to work part time, as we are buying a new house (and doubling our current mortgage).

Were you ever tested for blood clotting gene mutations, disorders or other illnesses connected with heightened risk for blood clots? Even though Yaz may have been the leading factor in your PE, I wouldn't be surprised if there was something else that contributed, especially considering you also have a history of miscarriage. If you weren't tested, or perhaps not tested for all issues, I definitely suggest having tests run first.
