By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Back To Square One??

I know we've asked this before. But as of today I am 8 months out from my PE. For a few weeks about a month ago I felt great. And now it seems like I'm back to square one. I even was put in the hospital and they did a heart cath to make sure there were no new blockages. They did find slight pulmonary hypertension, but nothing that should be causing this. Has anybody else had this happen? My doctors are stumped...they call me a "work in progress".

Getting short of breath with almost no exertion.

Have you been evaluated for asthma? Or do you already have asthma? Could be highly exacerbated with the heat right now.

I guess I'm saying that it might be time to look outside of the obvious culprits (PEs or the hypertension) and see if there might be something else going on.

I already have asthma and the pulmonologist is not sure what is going on. But he is going to run some additional test to try and see how bad my asthma is. It also appears that there is some fluid in there. And you are right. For the last few years I have had one heck of a time in this weather. Today it was about 110 and I wonder why do I live in Arizona??

I hear you! Colorado has been within about 5 degrees of Arizona temps for the last week PLUS we've got tons of smoke and ash in the air from all the wildfire.

Come to think of it ... those poor wildland firefighters ... 100-degree temps AND standing in the middle of a massive wildfire. I can't even imagine!

Hot temperatures ALWAYS set me back. You got your PEs after the summer last year, so maybe you're just struggling with the heat. Do you do any better when you're not out in the hot weather?
