Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Sorry to hear that you're having a pretty tough time...i sympathise and am feeling pretty much the same at the moment!
7 months on, i'm still feeling increadibly anxious and have some good days and lots of bad days! My doctor has been encouraging me to visit her every other week so that she can check me over and put my mind at rest - i.e. that i have no more clots! I have also been referred to a counsellor for some therapy, so I can stop feeling so incredibly anxious all of the time!
I also have many days where i feel lots of chest pain, and breathing issues...today being one of them! After lots of talks with my doctor it seems that this is because the right side of my heart is still impaired, and i am incredibly anxious all of the time...could this apply to you? When you are feeling paranoid and anxious, the mind plays horrible tricks on you, and unfortunately leads you to believe that you are having another PE. Nearly every day i still think to myself "this is it, i'm going to have to go back into hospital!"
Is there anyone that you could talk your worries through with? a caring doctor?
After all this, i definately do think things will get better eventually! Four months is still pretty recent really, and I have been told that it could take over a year to recover...so dont rush yourself, just take ur time, and take it one day at a time! stay strong, u will get there! x
