By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

1 Year Since Hotel Clot-ifornia!!!

Happy to say I made it to the one year mark. Have been off Coumadin for 6 months and stopped using compression stockings at that time. All has gone well and the only "problem" is that my left calf remains bigger than my right.

I cannot say that I haven't thought every day about some aspect of my PE journey and I get a little antsy if I have the least little pain in my left leg. This creates minimal anxiety and I quickly assure myself that I am ok. I did have some greater anxiety as the one year mark got closer and now I am tracking each day from last year like I am walking the stations of the cross-
April 1 was the misdiagnosis, April 3 was the DVT discovery . . . . . .

I just read your journal. Thanks for putting all this down, it was quite the ordeal, and I think you dealt with your PE story remarkably well. Congrats on the year. I would like to add that I find it quite helpful to wear my compression stockings, and since you do continue to have the swelling it might be helpful. I got the Jobst knee high athletic style and they have held up very well, and arent that restricting or hot.

Hahaha I think I had my clot 3 to 4 weeks before you guys.. hope you guys are doing well post PE. I'm back to lifting and it has helped substantially mentally and physically. it can be done as others have mentioned. Stay strong and be vigilant.

Steph you are right! I laid down the line " It is like there is a DVT/PE/Infarction Hotel California, after 6 months you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave! "

Toss fine tuned it to "the Hotel California of clotting" and then you polished off the gem of "Hotel Clot-ifornia"

Rye, unfortunately I clotted above the knee so I use coveralls. I do break them out once in a while for a 3 hour drive.
