By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

So not really sure how Im suppose to feel today...

Well i would really like to start off by saying to all of the newer people.
That: coming from a nay-saying/negitive person...
I have been proven wrong, it does in fact get better. And you are not doomed to live a miserable life. ( This is how i felt the first few months of my recovery)
It is such a long long hard journey, i often am amazed that its been a longer journey for my mind then my body... weird huh? People do not realize just how traumatizing this can be. Every ache and pain can bring on such feelings of anxiety... its no fun. But as you learn to live through these aches and pains you come to realize that no each twinge means its the end for you.
Ive had to grow up a lot over the last year...and i mean A LOT. I turned 22 this march 6th. Deep down Ive never been so thankful for a birthday lol!!
Theres just too much to type about my journey I know many of you have followed me through this experience or came in half way... its long... its not over yet. You guys were there for the side effects, anxiety attacks, pains, complaints, frustrations, and low moments of severe saddness... I have come through this in 1 piece... and maybee now I am much better then before. Although I find myself struggling still with the post traumatic stress and anxiety, I think as a person I have changed for the better in all aspects.
So From this day forward I am choosing to see my PE as a wake up call... as a turning point in my life. As a scream from somewhere telling me to be more presant in my own existance and to do what i want to do without hesitation.
I have finally realized that life is only what you make it... and if you really want something you HAVE to work and work and work and fall down and cry until you get it!!!
I no longing skim along the water of life like some sedentary pond scum... now im the tadpole sprouting legs ( wow that makes me sound real attractive right??? ) It feels good to actually live life. But it was very very hard to realize that living life... meant dealing with not only the great times or the fun times, but dealing with the hard times and having to work toward soemthing...
I am enrolling in school on Thursday. I am going back to school to be an Optometric Technician. I wanted to do this when I was 18 but I again took an easy route instead of the one i knew i wanted... I know it will not be easy... but i have realized that i want it and to make it happen i have to work.
I am finally loosing weight which is something I have struggled with for years.. and this last year put an extra 20 lbs on me so now its even harder. But im doing it full force. and in a month I have lost over 10 lbs with Weight Watchers... and i intend to keep going!!! Even though its a fearful thing, i starting to exercise getting used to my heart thumping again... which used to make me feel uneasy bc I used to have a thumping fast heart after my pe forthe first few months... but I am trying to rewire my brain... HELLO people strive to get their HR to 180 To burn fat so if im walking fast paced on my treadmill and im at 140 no worries.
My point to this really really long thread is that IT DOES GET BETTER... I can be very negitive unfortunately, and very anxious... But honestly although my journey isnt over, and it may take another year to push my pe a little further behind in my thoughts and worries... but the important thing to observe in times of doubt is the progress youve made so far!!!
I love all of my friends here, and i owe so much of my recovery to them!!!

I was admitted to hospital on Friday 13th June 2008 so my anniversary is only a few days away too.
It's been a funny old year hasn't it? Sometimes it seems to have flown by and other times I feel that it's been a very long time.
You're so right when you say that we are all learning from these experiences and I'm sure too that we are all so much stronger than before.

A bit slower, but you know I'm older (45) and I've decided with my hemo to start the coming off coumedin process in July or August. I will have pulmonary function tests after the fourth of july and then we will see how my lungs are doing. As you know this has been a year of long, slow recovery for me with the added anxiety. THANK you so much for all you have said and for being so authentic.... I'm so trhilled to see how far you have come and excited to hear about your weight loss!!
