I lost the nail on my right foot, next to my big toe. My left big toenail has blisters also and I will be losing that nail also. The missing toenail on my right foot didn't come off cleanly, the nail bed looks all bumpy and gross. I will see my dermatologist this Friday, soI will let you know what he says.

I hope it goes well. I have been lining up doctor appointments like bumper cars. Guess that is one more doctor to add to my list. I'd like to hear updates when you can.

I am so sorry your experiencing this. I know how painful this can be. I had lost 6 finger nails, and had the sores on the bottom of my feet.

I found that light therapy was helpful, not 100%, but it did help. I first went to the puva, which is a soak, then uva light. I ended up allergic to the soak, and the nurse at the hospital I had it at, was not very helpful.

In my teen years, I couldn't afford the light therapy at the dermatologist office so the dermatologist, said to go to a tanning bed, but only go for a few min. not the full tan time, and it worked well. So I did that again, and found it help some what.

Then my family Dr. talked me into seeing one more Derm, I was getting so tired of going from one Dr. to another, being told that they couldn't help me, and to get use to it.

This new Dr. put me in a study for a injection called Stelara, which worked magic. My figure nails are all back to normal, and my feet are clear. I get the injection every 12 weeks, but its a very scary drug, and the cost is crazy. over 5,000. for every shot. My husband insurance covers it completely, or it would not be a option for me.

I do get spotting for about a week or two before my next injection, but due to my sensitivity to med's. the dermatologist doesn't want to do it more often, which I am fine with. I use different medicated creams on the area, different creams for different area's.

I sure hope you find some thing that helps, I really feel for you, and every one suffering with this.

I'm quite sure EVERY dermatologist would NOT agree with my method but it's worked for 15 years. I have psoriasis in ALL fingers and toes. I purchased an embroidery scissors with a very fine point. I literally dig the psoriatic build up at the surface of my nails and toes. I can then clip nails including nudging out the build up on the corners of nails...which hurts more there as it pushes up against normal skin. I then file down the raised height of the fingers/toes until they are flat. I apply Over the counter MG217 OINTMENT all over the toes, and nails put socks on them and sleep with socks/mittens every few nights. I have not lost any nails and my Doctor of Osteopathy is frankly "blown away" that this has worked so well. Don't dig DEEP into the nail bed...just nudge the psoriatic build up out from under the nail. Also because our nails have lots of ridges I either do a French Manicure or use darker nail polish with a HIGH GLOSS like Duri Rejuvacote or www.duri.com. It's my latest greatest find for keeping the polish on for longer periods of time. It's all time consuming but it beats having nails removed. Good luck, hang in there and when you're at the beach BURY your hands and feet in the warm sand...it will do wonders for your psoriasis too!!
