Prenizone will decalisify the nails.
Find out what triggers your out breaks.
I have 16 triggers foods that causes my breakouts. Recently I had a break out and it takes 2 months to clear. It was caused by a new trigger call amines , not in the original 16 triggers.
Amines is a chemical produced by frozen fish, preserved meats like sausages and salami.
My girls made home made pizza for father's day in September, because I am allergic to eggs and wheat, so they specially chose to make a gluten free, egg free pizza. but they throw in the salami and pepperoni. I had a slight rash developed the next day. Followed by my husband brought home 2 packets of frozen fish from the supermarkets. we ate that for a week and I end up with a full blown urticaria sores and harden into chronic psoraisis all over my entire body. I mean hands, feet, body, back and even scalpes....it was horrible. Don't wish it on any one. Took my anti histermine to stop the itch, but it kept coming. I went to my doctor and he gave me 2 course of antibiotic, plus Daivobet.
I went through my food diary and found out that it was the amines in the cured meats and frozen fish. This is a new trigger for me. I was referred to the allergies unit to run some test to find out my tolerance levels, but the waiting list is one year long.. Oh dear. At least I found out what trigger the psoraisis.
I am sorry to hear about your nails. Yes if the allergies surfaced too close to your cuticles, the nails will eventually fall off. Too much prenizone does cause decalsifications and deformity in the nails. it also thin down the nails and skin. Cortison creams also does the same thinning effect. It will keep coming back if you keep eating the wrong foods. Find out what triggers your out breaks and abstain from it or eat less of it. One other preventive thing you can do is to heal and seal your guts.
interestingly i have never had anyone tell me about food causing outbreaks. my rashes remain the same, but do seem to flare although i have always thought it was stress. my doctor has talked to me about injections of steroids into my nailed, to which i have said NO!. but really interested if that is really an option.
