I feel lucky I only have a little bit but still is that why I get so sick is cuz i have it?

I don't know if your psoriasis would necessarily make you more likely to get other illnesses, but it does sound as if your immunity is low.

I would go to your GP and request some blood tests as you may have some sort of deficiency.

Eat healthy and take a vitamnin supplement - I find they give me a boost and I have (so far) avoided getting coughs and colds from everyone else.

I was just recently sick for 6 weeks. I caught virus after virus, without getting well from the first one. Then I finally caught strep throat. That turned out to be a good thing because then i got penicillin and that got rid of it all. The ER doctor told me that since I have psoriasis, which is an autoimmune condition, that was probably why I was getting illness after illness. anyhow, thats what I was told, and experienced. I would talk to your doctor for sure and ask more questions on the psoriasis/illness connection.

I have had just the opposite experience. I never get sick(knock on wood), even when everyone around me is getting sick. It is my understanding that psoriasis causes your immune system to go into overdrive, not be weaker, which is why I believe I never get sick. Ironically, a couple of years ago I had a bout of cellulitis that attacked my face. Since my immune system finally had something real to fight against, my psoriasis completely cleared up. It did eventually return when the cellulitis was taken care of.

When I was your age, I got sick quite a bit too - now that I'm 56, I hardly ever get sick, and the last cold I had only lasted 3 days, max. I found that supplementing my diet with excellent nutritionals, and having products that help protect from electro-magnetic energy is very useful in giving me energy, less stress and overall wellness. Prevention is the key to staying healthy -not fixing yourself only when you get sick. You have to educate yourself on nutrition and prevention in order to be healthy.

I dont know if it is necessarily the psoriasis, but really the drugs you take to fight it. I am on ENBREL and I know for a fact that lowers your immune system and I am always sick. Just recently had strep for the second time in 2 months. So ya i would say just stick to a healthy diet and try to boost your immune system

I've had PS since I was 7 and I've always been pretty healthy. I usually get a small cold maybe in the fall, and only in the last 3 years have I ever had the flu. I am greatful. I don't know that it would have anything to do with the PS itself. But if you are taking medication that could be a possibility. GL

I am currently on Humira and used to be on Enbrel, these medications lower your immune system. Anytime I get sick I can't take the medications. Since having psoriasis I generally get really sick 3-4 times a year and it will take weeks to clear up, and in general I just have a weak system so feel I must watch everything I do and eat.
