OMG this is driving me crazy !!!!! Almost never occurs except at night when I go to bed !!!! Wakes me up over and over !!!! I am legally deaf have always had ringing in ears, add the whoosh to that and it's a nightmare!!!! Any help to be found ?????
Since I gave up Diomax in March, the swooshing and heart beat have gradually crept back till its so dreadful I could scream, ( except that would just add to the noise!)
Most days ,it starts about lunch time to when I sit to watch TV at 9.00pm, it is belting out its own tune. This is then accompanied by the "deafness".I am like and old woman , shouting at the screen and my husband with ," what they say?"
Then to bed " perchance to dream" like hell ! The heartbeat chimes in then. Strange to think , for years , I thought everyone heard this.
I am sorry to say, Diomax was the only thing that worked, to stop it. During the day, I have the radio on all day.At night, I find being almost up right helps, 3 pillows. It doesnt get rid of it but , helps.
May be your dr could give you something to help you sleep? I am taking amitriptyline since March, ( 50mgs) and it has been great. I take it two hours before bed, and fall asleep. the staying asleep, is another matter... Cath.
