When should topamax start working

Hey all so i have been on topamax for about 3 weeks now and continue to get daily ha's i am on 100mg a day just wondering if it should have kicked in by now. i am going to call the neuro today and let them know and im sure they will up it but i must say i am begining to get very worried because i know that if topamax does not work then its lasix but after that im not sure if there are any other meds to try and a shunt just scares the shit out of me(sorry for the bad word). thanks for the in put! have a pain free day all!

April, my daughter has been on topamax for a year. She started at a low dose of 25, then increased each week till she got to 100 mg a day. I would say that it took about month after being at the 100 to find some relief. So all in all that would be about 7 weeks. But now she is doing really well. She only has the really bad ha's a couple of times a month versus the 24/7 like she used to.

I would like to give you some kind of hope with thisk but Iwas put on Topamax 7 weeks ago for Epilepsy and seizure...I jsut so HAPPEN to have PTS for the past 25 years!...lucky me! The neuro thought Topamaz would be the PERFECT anti seizure drug for me ( to the tune of 200 mg a day) because I also had PTC, was newly diagnosed with Epilepsy AND...oh, yes...lucky enough to hit the trifecta...MIGRAINES!!!...which they also use Topamax for! Well, April, what I am sadly ( and slowly) getting to is....it hasn't done a darned thing for MY headaches. It HAS helped my seizures...which is a great thing! ...so I'll take THAT! I've have MORE migraines, more PTC headaches than I did before! Now, to be fair, I am getting OLD...lol...and starting...ugh, dare I say it...menopause...gulp! So, I think my body is going through changes...and my doc says with that comes headaches...so, it COULD be from that...and it may be unfair to say the Topamax is not helping when the stinking hormones are overpowering...but, I'm jsut telling you MY experience.

I am on topomax (for the second try) and it doesn't do nothing for me.

Doesn't touch my headache.
