Well, I finally heard back from the NS office this past Friday and the nurse wants me to get a "shunt series" x-ray done prior to my appt on Monday to make sure everything is working correctly, etc. As far as the stomach pains go, I'm STILL waiting on my PCP to call me back on what he wants to do about the colon inflammation that showed up on CT scan. I'm getting really tired of the sharp pains in the side of my gut and back. I'm going to mention it to my NS tomorrow and see what he says. I also see my Neuro-Opthal doc as well to check my vision. I'm kind of excited, but then nervous about my appts. This will be my first appt with the docs since my VP Shunt surgery. I obviously have some questions for the doc, but is there any other specific questions I should ask? I hope he says I can go swimming :) I will let you know once I get home on what they both say :) Fingers crossed! GBF
My NS wouldn't do anything when I told him about my pains in my lower left quad.! He is a cool surfer dude, and a much, much better surgeon than my last NS, but that put him lower on my list, so part of him is still a typical Dr. He said I would have to see a diff. Dr. if I wanted that checked out, grr. though it has gotten a little better.
I would call again your PCP to remind him/her.
I'm not sure what you should ask since I don't have a VP shunt, swimming is a good question, maybe about bending over or any limitations you should still be doing, will you have another follow up, what about getting hair cuts, do they have to be very careful over the part in your head? Please Please Please, stay on top of this. Keep pushing your doctors. Organ injury, ie colon inflamation, is a rare but possible complication of the surgery you (and I) just went thru. Mine turned in to a month of hell.
My PCP Dxd me with a urinary tract infection and thought I had appendicitis but already had that 5 years ago. After a week of thowing up and sever abdominal pain I finally went to ER but too late the damage was done and a bowel obstruction was in full swing. The rest you can read in "the whole enchilada"
