I am writing to see if anyone here has had gastric stomach ulcer. I think I may have one, and I think it may have developed due to the muscle relaxers and the corticosteroids that were used for my PTC. I have a gnawing ache in my upper abdomen with bloating. It starts directly under my rib cage and leads around to my back. Really uncomfortable when I take a deep breath. It really started to bother me after I ate dinner this evening.
Overall today has been a little rough. The swishing is back in my ear and so is the HA. I took some medication earlier and it has helped some, so for that I am thankful. Now, I have this darn stomach ache. If anyone can share information about ulcers I would greatly appreciate it. I took 3 Tums and 1 Prilosec...I hope it works soon.

The way it is confirmed is by endoscopy. You are put to sleep (conscious sedation) and they put an instrument down your throat to look in your stomach and to get a sample if needed. I've had it done twice and its no big deal. Do you notice it occuring with certain foods?

I am felt better last night after taking the tums and prilosec. But, I did notice that when I ate today I felt nauseous and didn't eat much. (On my way to weight loss? YEAH!) I can say that interestingly enough, when I first received my diagnosis and came home from the hospital one of the meds they placed me on was daily Prilosec. I thought maybe they had made a mistake, because I don't suffer from heartburn or indigestion. I wonder if one of the PTC meds that they placed me on, including corticosteroids can cause this problem and the doctors were trying to be proactive. (Of course, they never told me.) I guess I'll have to make an appointment with my PCP to see what's up.

Interesting they had you go home with prilosec. There is now a generic prescription prilosec that your insurance will cover so it would cost less than buying it over the counter. Let us know what you Dr. says. Good luck, Jazzy
