Sure way to jack up a headache...

Argh, not sure what I was thinking! Went to a dentist appointment today without giving it a second thought, wasn't until they lowered my head way down that I realized my mistake. Thought about asking for special accommodation since I don't tolerate having my head flat or low...but decided to hope for the best since it's got to be tricky to clean teeth in a modified position. Did okay for the appointment, but the rest of the day has really sucked headache wise.

I've been so careful to avoid laying with my head flat for this reason! Does anyone request special positioning at the dentist? Just curious, in case this is still as issue for me next time I am due. I would have skipped it all together had I anticipated it. So foolish of me!

The exam chairs at our dentist's office are rather comfortable and my hygienist puts it in a moderately reclined position. I would certainly ask for an accommodation as it sound like your chair is at the extreme point.

Oh RN, the dreaded dentist's chair! I've worked out a "deal" with hygienist to moderately recline like AntiqueRose, but also to elevate my head about every 10-15 minutes for me to settle down my head. Dentist's office has been most cooperative about adding extra time to my appointment window to accommodate for this.

I make my appts nearly 6 mos in advance and then about 4 weeks prior, call to remind them of and plea for special attention to my headaches. So far, so good. They've been very willing/nice to help me.

You're not foolish at all -- these daily life things all of a sudden spring up every so often. We can't all be psychic or on top of our game 100% of time. :)

I have to be sedated to have my teeth cleaned, so they can have the chair wherever they want, I rarely remember any details from my appointments.

My dentist's chair has me moderately reclined. My head is still elevated. One of the worst headaches I've ever had was after I went to the dentist with an existing headache that was a 6, and during the appt. became a 10. I think having my jaw open as far as it would go and my neck tipped for half an hour made things much worse, not sure why.
