I typically burn if I am in the sun for a long period of time but on these meds it takes 5 mins in the sun to burn. I need to get some super sunblock.

I've been sun cautious my entire life because of my red hair. I use a Neutrogena 100+ SPF spray when I'm going outside for longer periods of time. On a day to day basis though, I typically just wear a 50 SPF lotion and I wear a 50 SPF moisturizer on my face and neck, in addition to a 30 SPF in my makeup foundation.

It doesn't matter how much sunblock I use. I burn like a lobster. For years (before Diamox) I also have gotten sun rashes. So it's out of the sun for me. Nice shade, hat.

Higher SPF doesn't necessarily provide that much more protection. SPF of 30 protects against 92% of the sun's rays. SPF 40 protects against 97.4%. Higher SPF, not much more. Do be sure to look for the words "broad spectrum" on the label so it protects against both UV A and B.

A side note...I just read that oxybenzone, which is in some sunscreens, mimics estrogen in the body. I may be stretching a bit here, but since most of us are on the lookout for anything that could trigger/worsen our IIH symptoms, this may be one to avoid! If elevated estrogen is thought to contribute to IIH, I sure don't want any estrogen mimicking substances absorbed into my body!
