ok plz help..i have been getting the strange pain on only the right side of my head..so bad to where it has waken me up out of my sleep..its not a headache its like a sharp stab and then a throb that last for about 2 minutes maybe less and stays very centralized to where it started. I mean its like if i had a brain in my hand i could dig down in it and show you the exact spot where it occured thats how located it is. This is a new thing for me and is kind of freaking me out so any help will.....well...help lol thanks for the replies ahead of time. and as always hope you all are pain free and comfortable! xoxoxox april

Do you have a shunt? I can't remember. Anyway, I remember having those symptoms frequently before the shunt, and it usually accompanied a headache shortly before or after. My eyes would also feel swollen from the pressure. It wouldn't last long but that sounds like what I was feeling then. Hope that helps...hope you feel better soon.

Nope no shunt YET though i very well could be on my way to one as i see a surgen on tuesday to get an opinion on if it would be a good thing for me since the meds dont work very well for me. I find that these pains are not really coming along with a headache they are more just an seperate symptom.

April, often, on the right side of my head, I get a pain that is just what you describe, as if someone is putting their thumb against my brain. Once, I had it for a month.

I cannot stand this illness.

I have similar pain, it feels like someone is driving a railroad spike into my brain then electrocuting it. It happens mostly at night when I am lying down.

This is such a painful disease. Do you see a pain management DR? If this continues to be bothersome you might want to see one.
I have some meds that will at least take the edge off that are narcotics, and then I used to take Lyrica (non-narcotic) 3 x a day. It worked wonders, although took about 3 weeks or so before it really started to work. I cannot tolerate Lyrica at the moment, I had a gastric bypass in June and had to stop all meds. I am slowly working my way back to meds I can tolerate, just have to take it really slow and let my stomach adjust to one drug at a time. I hope to be able to take Lyrica again soon.

Yep, had this pain on and off for a stent. Seems now before I get HA I get weird mental issues before they start. Seems to me that these weird things indicate a change in flow, blood or CSF, maybe even nerves becoming active or blocked nerves?

I remember the couple of times I had the Aura/migraine I had a feeling of being electrocuted, then a full body and brain buzzing-vibration before I saw the acid trippy crap, weird.

That is the thing that led to my diagnosis... Extrme pain through my right temple and behind my eye..

Pretty much the same.Golf ball behind the right eye, with feeling as if a metal rod is being rammed thru my head behind that golf ball. Paps have always been worse on the right.
