Wed. I have a shunt test since even though my shunt was tied almost 2 weeks ago, I'm still having over shunting symptoms.
I was wondering if anyone has had a shunt test before? I know I will have a spinal tap and then the dye. After all of my surgeries you would think I wouldn't be scared, but I'm getting nervous/anxious. I really am so sick and tired of being sick and tired (ha).

Hello, no need to worry. The shunt function study is not much more than a typical spinal tap. They just remove a bit of fluid and then inject the isotope into the spinal canal. They will then put you into a big scanning machine. I had to come back the next day to go back into the machine again. Because the isotope had not traveled thru the shunt to the abdomen as desired. So if you have been thru a tap before, you will have no problem going thru the test. My best to you. God bless. Amy
