Hi all, I went and saw a P.T. for some neck pain that I had when I woke up from my last shunt surgery. I couldn't believe that the P.T. knew what IH was (though she called it ICH) and also knew that increased pressure causes neck and back pain! I was shocked. She also knew that lying flat on the massage table would make my pressure higher. Maybe the word is getting out there to more people about this disease, amen!

I had a mammogram at the breast clinic, they knew.
I went to my Gyno.. she knew
The regular opthamologist knew.
The first night I went to the ER, they sent me to an opthamologist, and he said right away, It's either a brain tumor or ptc. I guess I was very luck in that sense.

I read on the Mayo clinic website that there are 1 in 100,000 people with IH (this was in 2006) which means only about 3,000 reported cases of IH per year (who knows how many have it and are misdiagnosed or just don't know) so I guess I shouldn't be suprised.
My NO dx. me right away and of course the NS's and my neuro know a lot about IH, but other than that not so much luck. But I keep educating everyone I meet so we get better care. Blessings, Jazzy
Did the P.T.help?

Yes, the P.T. helped. She told me I have weak neck muscles and I tend to slump which puts extra strain on my upper trapezius muscle. She showed me very gentle excercises to do that pinpoint certain neck muscles. She thought in about 3 weeks I could start an upper extremity strengthening group. Ice or heat don't help so she didn't do any of that or ultrasound. She told me no free weights until my muscles get stronger.
She was so nice in making sure that she stopped when ever by right eye blacked out. She was going to have a PT assistant see me but then said she would follow me since i have so much going on.
