One dr says you have IIH cause of extra weight, another says the opposite.
Some swear your paps will heal if you lose weight, others well, you get the idea.
I was not at all over weight when this all started. Just normal. Then for a year before diagnoses, I was on steroids for a year and put on 65 lbs! I looked ridiculous.
Thankfully and with the aid of Diamox (!)I lost all the weight and ... no difference.Nada.
My paps seem to have a life of their own.
Altho not" normal" as such, normal weight people, men and children can and do get IIH. This is the really hard part of this illness. there is no real set plan. It has so many variables it would drive you crazy. Cath.
i believe that weight loss can help in overall health & possibly to ease the symptoms of IIH, but i am not convinced in my own experience that this is the case. then again, we all experience this with a lot of commonalities, but just enough differences to make it unique to just us i am finding.

I forgot about the PTC in my everyday life. Weight was fine about 140/150 for years, even had a baby no problems. 9 years ago (160pounds) was tired of not using birth control and got the shot that lasted 3 months, I believe that is when I started to gain the PTC weight again, and I couldn't loose weight. Couldn't get it off. 6 months ago I got a pneumonia and had tetracycline and another antibiotic that the made the PTC worst. Gained 15/20 pounds within a couple of months. Taking Diamox and I've been able to loose 20 pounds, no headaches or vision problems anymore. I believe that the weight, which is excess fluid, is the problem for me, I may be wrong, time will tell, we'll see once this excess weight is gone. For me the weight is the PTC,
