I'm concerned when I read that your neck is more stiff and painful than usual, and that you have a leg going out. If at any point you are concerned about something like meningitis then the emergency room is an option. Another option is to call your doctor's office and ask for the triage nurse (if they have one) and she can advise you what to do. Most hospitals also have nurse advisor phone lines that can help sort out what to do. Call the main phone number for the hospital and ask for that department.

A less conventional option is to go to your doctor's office whether you have an appointment or not and camp out in his waiting room. You may get a very fast answer to your questions.

I'm hoping everything will even out for you and that everything is *relatively* fine.

Sorry honey, time to go back to the hospital. As Sea has said, this is not something to be second guessing.
I would think that the positioning during the lp may be responsible for your aches but you need a dr to check you out.
How is your hd? Maybe a low pressure hd that you are feeling in your neck?
One way or another you need to get it all checked out.

Oh this dr. bothers me!!!!! Here's the update, even though I had the eye dr check my wonky eye last week, and I had a tap on Friday - my optic nerve is swollen. Seriously? There's "dramatic changes." So I ask him what do I need to do and his answer is to send me to a neuro-opthamologist (in a couple weeks). My vision is 20/25 in my "good eye and 20/50 in the other. I'm confused, I take diamox, I just had a tap, my eyes were just checked, this doesn't add up. Suggestions?

Things can go south really quick. I'd be calling the NO's office daily and ask about cancellations so you can go in sooner. I don't have paps, but I've read a couple of members' posts where their first vision symptoms was temporary blindness. Take it seriously. Seriously.

My NOs office here in st. Louis has 24 hr on call, although I know what to say to get in immediatly, they always meet me at the front door with a wheelchair, tell em your having aura, your seeing fuzzy black and white snow with kliedescope lights different colors surrounding it. Tell em your having buzzing tingling around eyes, in face, down spine. They will get you in asap to maKe sure u have no retinal detachment. Atleast this was you can tell em what's been going on and how u feel they will see what they need to and provide treatment immediately.

I'm joining in on the I hate diamox convo's even more. Yes, I've been on diamox, but they messed with the dosage a whole lot then when they tried to up it about 2 months ago (ish) (again might I add) I had horrible side effects, and my PCP and neuro agreed I needed to reduce back to 500 mg 2 times a day. Well, with all the madness that's going on, in one last ditch effort I asked the neuro if I could do anything while waiting - his suggestion? Go back up on diamox. I'm not trying to whine, I promise, but I am miserable! I am trying to give my body time to adjust but this is crazy. I'm trying to stay positive, keeping the goal (hopefully my eyesight coming back and no more wonky eyeball) in perspective but how long do I put myself through this experiment? Especially when my eyes continue to feel heavier and heavier, and different visual symptoms just continue, including waking up with no vision in my left eye one morning.

As for the NO - I promise to start calling tomorrow. I have an appointment with the orthopedist tomorrow morning for my foot (the ruptured tendon) because that's not healing right either. Ugh! Pain levels are ridiculously high and answers that produce results quickly would be nice...sorry, feeling a little impatient.

this is ridiculous. sudden vision loss is a medical emergency. they must be thinking ONSF? so what's the hold up? are there really that many other people about to lose their vision who are in line ahead of you that you have to wait a couple of weeks?

Again, please consider just going to the ER at the hospital where you'd like to be treated. This is nothing to fool around with and they are taking more time than I feel comfortable with. I'm concerned for you.
