Off Of Diamox...Now What

I just took my last dose of Diamox tonight, and Im not really sure what to expect with my headaches. Will I get more of them since Im not on it? I was on 1500 mg and every week my doctor took me off 500 mg until I was off (so 3 weeks.) I feel that my doctor took me off too quickly. What can I expect?

Why did your doctor take you off diamox? I stopped taking it after my papilledema was gone and I weaned pretty slowly and didn't have any problems.

He took me off of it because my headaches "seem" to have gotten better...I've only been off of it completely since this past Saturday, but I can already tell there's changes...I'm becoming more sensitive to light and sound again

so, if it's not broken, why try to fix it? if Diamox works, that's fantastic! it doesn't work that well for most. so stay on it!

Ditto. If it's working why take you off? I could understand taking you off if you had terrible side effects, or another problem. IH sometimes goes into spontaneous remission, is that what he's thinking?

It takes a month or more for me to go full-blown back to where I was before Diamox (when my dr. takes me off for various reasons). I begin feeling it right away but notice it increasing over time. After a month or two I'm back to my old self, which is not the desired result! It takes the same amount of time to get better when I go back on Diamox.

Keep a daily diary of how you feel, your headaches, your meds, any triggers, etc. It will help decipher what's going on.
