My son is complaining of headaches!

I am mildly concerned and my husband is freaking out...my son has been complaining about headaches lately. I made him an appointment for tomorrow morning to see what is going on but of course iih crosses my mind as a cause. I think that I have Chiari too so I am more worried about that.

The Dr referred him to a Neuro so he is seeing him on Monday.

how old is he? what seems to trigger his headaches?
I have IIH and so does my son. and I think my mother does as well. I do think it can be hereditary, it seems to be in my family. it seems related to our anatomy. I went into remission after jaw surgery.
our first pedi neuro was rude to me and told me IIH is not familial. however there are several articles on PubMed showing that it is, and the IHRF is recruiting for a familial study.

He is 8 years old, he will he 9 in Aug and he is a twin but the other one has no symptoms at all.

Has his Vitamin D status been checked? I have seen references regarding both too little and too much Vitamin D in relation to IIH.

There are just so many things that cause headaches. It's great he is going to see a neurologist and that they can consider IIH in the differential diagnosis, but it may well be something more innocuous. Best of luck, I hope he feels better soon.
