Call the pharmacies in your area and find out if they price match other pharmacies. I know Walgreens does not price match but I know Fred Meyer does. Every company has different policies. Maybe find out if your pharmacy has another pharmacy at another location. You should also call your neuro on call and just let them know and see if they have any suggestions. But missing a few days will make your pressure higher. The times I forgot to take my meds I usually ended up having to get a lumbar puncture and have fluid drained but that hopefully wont be the case for you. Also, find out if your pharmacy has an auto refill system and put the diamox on the auto refill list so that way you dont run into this problem again. Good luck.

Thanks for the advise. I am with Walgreens. I will try others tomorrow. I do have some lasix I can take for a few days. Do ya'll think they would help. I know some people take Lasix.

Hi so sorry your Walgreens ran out. Is there another Walgreens in the area where they can check if it has Diamox? Can you afford to fill 1/2 the script-can they just give you enough pills to last until Walgreens has it come in? I have taken lasix but it did not help like diamox (but that is just me). I would def. call your Dr. and tell him what is going on and what you should do. It sucks that on top of all that you go through you have to know deal with this. I hope it all works out. You can get fewer than 1/2 month's worth. Have your doc write a separate prescription for it, just get enough for now till wed.

I usually go to Walgreens as well and every time I get a refill on my diamox they never give me the complete order. I usually receive 15 pills and they tell me the rest will be available the next day. The pharmacy should be able to call around and see if another location has the pills and get them to fill it for you. You should call the pharmacy directly and speak to a live person.

Randi, I think you will be ok to miss a few days of Diamox. Its not ideal of course but at times, I have to cut back a day or two from low pressure hds that I am now getting from it. Cath

It's on my to-do list to get a couple of months supply of my two critical drugs, just in case there is a total shortage and it takes awhile to get them. I'd just pay out of my pocket bc insurance wouldn't pay for a double supply for a couple of months. As an example my 2-month diamox stockpile would be a hundred dollars or so. A lot, but I'd have peace of mind.

This happened to me once. After that, I started going/calling in for my refill about a week and a half before my current supply was out. That way, I'd have enough to get me through while they got around to re-stocking it.

Even better now, I go to the Target pharmacy and my prescription is on auto-refill. So they refill it for me, then call me when it's ready. Works for me.

Rite Aid Pharmacy lets us auto refill Diamox, so that it is always ready when we need it. Maybe your pharmcy can do the same.
