Over time, I noticed a metallic taste that led me to revolutionize my kitchen by eliminating my stainless cookware (and coffee carafe). I now make coffee by boiling water in a glass tea kettle (made in Germany) on the stove and then do the pour over method using a high end porcelain cone sitting atop my Royal Albert porcelain teapot made in England. I use Le Creuset and Emile Henry (both made in France) for cooking and baking. I also use made in USA Lodge and Anchor Hocking items as well. Expensive, yes, but I no longer experience any icky and highly bothersome metallic taste from my foods or coffee. I may be more sensitive than most, but I no longer even use my better quality 18/10 stainless cookware, just in case.
This all makes me wonder how messed up our blood brain barriers may have become at times.
Though this is regarding soldiers and metal fragments, the process could still pertain to us as a sensitive population group???? Perhaps....

Metal translocation to the brain is strictly controlled and often prevented by the blood-brain barrier. For the most part, only those metals required to maintain normal function are transported into the brain where they are under tight metabolic control. From the literature, there are reports that traumatic brain injury disrupts the blood-brain barrier........

The IIH happened around the same time. Diamox made everything taste horrid for me so now I can't tell the difference anyways. I still experience it though I thought maybe mine came from a root canal? Maybe Iih could be the culprit.
