I'm a vp shunter, and I was madly in love with my shunt from April 2012- October 2012. I wasn't on any meds, I felt amazing, I went back to a total normal pre IH life, it was wonderful. Then the headache that changed it all came October 19th-needed a revision, then another revision October 25th. I haven't been able to really recover since. I've had headaches since my last revision. The headaches have typically been in my right eye, and have been classified as migraines. I've been on Amitriptyline now I'm up to 150mg and now they have added Topamax. I have been slowly increasing Topamax and was comfortably at 50mg morning and 50mg night and had a good week and a half headache free. Then the headaches came back. I talked to my neurologist and he told me to up the Topamax to 100mg at night and stay 50mg in the morning. I tried this for two days and I didn't have the eye headache, but I feel like I'm having high pressure headaches. When I lay flat I feel like my head is going to explode. I hear the heart beat in my ears, and there is a vice grip on my temples. Can this happen for Topamax? I was never on Topamax, I was only on Diamox. Am I losing my mind? Of course I'm supposed to be going back to work tomorrow as my FMLA is up!!
