Hi everyone -
I had my VP shunt removed and had an LP Shunt put in on 2/26/14. Recovery has been going okay, but I'm experiencing some headaches. I had my staples removed yesterday and the nurse said the incisions were healing nicely. I mentioned my headache's and she said to monitor them and when I get them, try to lay down first before taking meds and see if they go away (to see if it is due CSF or not?). If the headaches don't go away after trying to lay down, then to take my meds. She said it could be due to inflammation as well, and it may take time for them to go away. Well, I got one today and layed down and the HA went away, but later on today, my lower back started hurting too. What the heck?? Any thoughts?

I hope that your LP shunt works well for you and you have a speedy recovery!
I am quiet new here but with the laying down helping and the lower back pain could you have a low pressure headache?? I had those symptoms with a low pressure headache so that was the first thing that came to my mind but I dont have a shunt, so i a not sure. maybe the others might have more ideas.
