Hmm, yes, did anyone do labs on you? Like a white blood cell count? Actually it would be very wise to check this before assuming it's an allergic reaction to Diamox. Perhaps your neuro is jumping to the conclusion he most expected to occur. How high is your fever? What kind of rash is it? Fevers can happen with drug reactions but oftentimes don't. There is also a rare reaction called Stevens-Johnson syndrome to rule out. I guess it is pretty important to distinguish if this is indeed a reaction to Diamox or a different process going on that needs treatment. I'd want to be seen, you could even go to your primary doctor or urgent care. Sending prayers and good thoughts!

Another out there thought... when I first got sick and my pressure was very high and we didn't know what was happening. I was getting "low grade fevers" too (well one went up to 39.2C.
Since seeing my neuro and being on treatment we realized that my body has no idea what to do with getting hot anymore... if I work out to hard for a minute too long then I can't lower my core temp any more, and within a few hours I will register a "low grade fever". He says it's because of the positive feedback loop, I have low temperature regulation because of the IIH, so increased core temp can lead to increased Intracranial pressure which can in turn decrease temperature regulation...

Thank you all for the replies and prayers and well wishes. Did see a doctor. It was the same type of rash and high fevers I had when I was given a med with sufla in it. It started out red and hot to the touch then started blistering affect :( my body, face. Because I was coughing they did a strep test to rule out out strep throat BC it can cause high fevers rash an what not... But all labs were good... It was a drug interaction :(

sounds like stevens Johnson which can be quite serious. make sure you know all meds that are sulfa. I know someone who gets SJS with many different meds now.

Soccergirl: Just wanted to say how sorry I am that diamox isn't a good fit for you. How frightening to have such a reaction; am glad you went to doctor right away. Hang in there and know I'm always sending good thoughts your way.

Sorry, that sounds miserable. If it is Stevens Johnson syndrome that is a different ball game than an allergic reaction, and may explain why your neuro was extra cautious with you in the first place. Hope you recover quickly.
