I have had unusual jaw pain the past week. I've never had any problems with my, now my jaw feels like someone has shoved it to the right and it is making my whole lower jaw hurt. I do have one wisdom tooth left and not sure if that is affecting it (never had any problems with it before) or if it is being caused by my pressure going up. Has anyone ever had anything like this?
do a soft diet and try to rest your jaw. if it is stuck in any abnormal position then you need to get it checked. hopefully the army will have a good person for you to see. for some reason many health insurances don't consider the TMJ to be part of the body and will deny coverage for it.
it sort of sounds like one of your articular discs is dislocated. both of mine were chronically dislocated and the right side always popped. I had surgery to pin them in place. some dentists do iCAT scans that image the TMJ, but my oral surgeon wanted an MRI. if there is degenerative changes to the mandibular condyle, you want to make sure you do something to manage it. some end up with total joint replacements. hopefully this is just a brief episode and won't be a long term issue.
