Hello everyone! I recently started having AWFUL migraines. I ignored it for about a week, taking Excedrin Extra Strength. Eventually, I said, alright, this is too much, as it got worse. So I made a headache appointment and my doctor referred me to an opthamologist. She took one look in my eyes, and freaked out! I was rushed to the ER, as she thought I had a brain tumor. Anyways, after some CT's and MRI's, they diagnosed me with Psudotumor or Intracranial Hypertension. They gave us the rundown I'd have to be on diamox for the rest of my life, etc, etc, did an LP (I had a pressure of about 68). So here's why I'm posted to this group. They would have missed it if not for a second opinion! I actually had a blood clot blocking the spinal fluid from draining! It's called a CVT, sort of like a DVT but in the head. The cause of it wasn't genetic related or anything...It was actually the estrogen in my birth control! So, if you have histories of clotting in your family, or take birth control with estrogen, I'd REALLY recommend you get an MRI or MRV to make sure that's not the cause. It's pretty common. Also, if you're able to take Excedrin, (and don't have the clot or whatever) I'd recommend it. It really helped with the pain for me. Extra strength works just as well as migraine and you can take it twice as often. Good luck everyone!
