Just wanted to let you all know I survived my VP Shunt surgery last Thursday. Recovery has been kind of brutal due to having nausea issues due to anesthesia and meds, but I got discharged to come home late Saturday afternoon. I haven't eaten much due to the low appetite, but have come across another problem with constipation (I know, TMI), but I have been taking things to help with that and I'm only mentioning this so those who are going to have to have the VP shunt soon, to know how important it is to make sure you are not constipated because it can mess up the entire shunt. I found that out from my nurse yesterday. Thanks for all your continued thoughts and prayers during my recovery...I appreciate you all! Talk to you soon!

Interesting. I just read TJ's post and he ended up with a small bowel obstruction that landed him back in the hospital.
Hope you feel better soon and the worst is behind you.

YEAH GREENBAY!!! I'm sure it has been a rough trip, but, I'm so happy that you are well enough to give us an update and are gradually recovering. Constipation is not TMI as TJ's post goes to show, (although that may not have been his cause IDK.) But, I can tell you that when I was hospitalized and they screwed up my LP I had no bladder or bowel sensation for over a week. My bowels didn't move for three weeks even with medication...and then... Well, you can guess. Don't wait till things get so severe. I know your taking stuff to help, but, if you don't see results don't hesitate to ask your doc for something new. Hang in there girl. I pray that your new shunt will bring you a new pain free life.

Welcome back! I'm so happy that the surgery went well, but sorry that you're dealing with nausea and constipation. Hopefully this hurdle will pass quickly and you'll be on the road to a good, uneventful recovery - and pain free days ahead! :-)

Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear about the yucky times. Between my three pregnancies with hyperemesis gravidarum, I know all too well what debilitating nausea and vomiting is like. I've spent over two solid years feeling that way, when you add it up. Hope you feel much better really soon!
