I really do...but not for my head. This is not really PTC related, so I hope it is okay to post this...My head feels about 85% better with being off of my Propanolol. Weird, it was supposed to HELP with headaches, lol.

I am having increasingly bad pains in my right side, under my rib cage...they feel like someone beat me with a bat, but inside and bruised me all up! I have no idea why! I have now tried (and let me remind you, I HATE taking medication these days) pain pills, muscle relaxers and my sleeping medicine. Tonight, for the first time, it awoke me from my sleep. It is getting worse.

Does anyone know what could be causing this pain? I feel it on the right side and in the right front, under and below my rib cage...

I just do not know what to think. I just know it is increasing in pain!

Any thoughts are very welcome... :(

Sounds like it could be your gallbladder (either inflamed gallbladder of gallstones). I've heard it can be excruciating pain...sometimes will come and go but worth getting checked out. Gallbladder removal is usually a fairly routine "outpatient" surgery. I went home with 5 bandaids covering my five tiny incisions....

The first thing that popped in my mind was also the gallbladder. I just had mine removed a little over a year ago and that pain sounds very familiar. Pain medicine didn't help much when I had gallstone attacks and it it woke me out of my sleep and lasted for at least 6 hours with straight hard pains in the same location you're describing. I didn't even suspect that my GB was the culprit, but it was. I'm so much better now with it out. Please go have it looked at, you have so many other things to battle, at least this one is a common outpatient laproscopic procedure that is usually done outpatient. Hope you feel better soon sweetie.

I was just talking to my mom and she told me that, although my gallbladder was removed, I can still get stones in the bile duct. And that could be the source of this pain.

We are thinking that I am going to be getting checked out very soon.

I'm one of those lucky people, that got stones after my gallbladder was removed. I never had them when I had it. It's thought by my Internist that being on Topamax for so long not only causes kidney stones, but gall stones also. Mine have been confirmed by ultrasound.
The pain from them is just as bad and in exactly the same area as when I was having gallbladder attacks. As a sidenote, turmeric is a spice that is known to cause gallstones. Some people take it in capsule form because it has anti-inflammatory properties, but I learned the hard way that too much is bad news.
Anyway, I guess I hope it's that and not referred pain from your appendix.

This is what is insane - I do not take any medicine except for my seizure medicine and I was taking Propanolol, but nothing that I have read can cause the stones after your gallbladder is removed! This is so crazy...I do end up with rare and crazy things, so I would not be surprised...I just really, truly hate the thought of having to go through lying in a hospital and all that testing!

I am hoping you are feeling a bit better. Do a quick internet search for gallstones or gallbladder pain after gallbladder removal and you will find a lot of references. I've been using it as an excuse to not have mine out! My dad had his removed and still has to be very careful of what he eats. But there are other things that could be causing pain in that area, like an ulcer or your pancreas. If this pain is waking you up and continuing, it's probably time to see your doctor. In the mean, time try to eat carefully (low fat, no sugar, -maybe no eggs, dairy, or peanuts) drink lots of water - it won't hurt and might help. Hope you feel better.
