Because of another's discussion I saw 3 of us have taken the depo shot before being diagnosed. So how many of you have been on it in your life. I did of course it was many years ago.

I was on it from late1999 to late 2002/early 2003 when my insurance company stopped covering it. I gained almost 40 lbs while on it...unable to lose even a lb until my cycle came back a year later.

Cath, it is a birth control shot taken once every three months. The advantage was not having to take a pill every day and the loss of menstrual cycle, down side was weight gain.

Thanks Hope for clearing that up.
Just thought i would add, I was never on the pill, took the known antibiotics or took in too much Vit A.

They have said mine it truly IIH, Idiopathic, of unknown origin. Cath

Mine is also. The birth control was long done with 8 yrs ago, never took the antibiotics or excess vit a. If it was due to birth control it would have effected me a while ago, not a decade later, right?

I was on the depo shot for 6 months in 2000. I don't think I was on it long enough for it to affect my health.

Like so many other things that have had class action law suits on it you never know. It could be immediate or could take a long time. I took it probably 15 years ago. But who knows?I was having problems with this then but not bad enough to get diagnosed.

Let's just say yes or no and see what happens.

Was on it for a few months, but other estrogen based birth controls for many many more years which I am almost positive caused clotting issues.....which caused me problems.

I've been on the patch and the pill on and off since I've been 18 (now 32) tho never Depo.

Currently I'm on the pill for 6 years and would love to get off it because of the hormonal link to PTC but I don't want to get pregnant either yet. My husband is WONDERFUL and actually said he'd get a vasectomy if we're sure we weren't going to have any kids just so I can get off the pill and hopefully further away from PTC.

I only took 2 shots of it...in I think 95 or 96... I was so mean and packed on pounds QUICKLY so I didn't get anymore...

I took depo for a few years about 5 years before the IIH.
