Carry a small piece of absorbent paper and a small bottle of water. When the flush comes on, dab the wet cloth on your pulse points.
For night time sweats , I had a standing fan at the base of our bed( and a sympathetic husband!) I had it on low all night, and when a flush would start , turn the fan up and relax. Take the covers off. This really helped me and I didnt get soaking wet from the sweats. No more having to get up and change all my clothes.
Layering your clothes is the answer for day to day problems. Always wear a V neck top! Short sleeves as well. You can add sweaters, and then add on or off with little trouble. This is why, all women of this age wear this type of clothes!

I am not sure how the treat it the States but here they would rather you went thru it as naturally as possible. I never considered HRT therapy.
I am glad now as they would probable blame it for my IIH.
I hope these tips work for you. I think it helps when you know someone has been thru it, and survived! Cath.
I did not get the hot flashes until I started the Diamox..boy they were bad.. I would have a least 1 every hour..even during the night.. once I stop the diamox..it took about 3 months and then they were gone.. they just started up again last month.. not as bad or frequent..but still as annoying..
Do you know if low Vitiam D can cause hot flashes?
