I am a bit nervous about going back to the eye dr in the am. I have been feeling AMAZING since my spinal tap. No light in my eyes no panic attacks nothing! I have even lost some weight in the past week or so :) but I am nervous about going back to the eye dr tomorrow. my op was 30 but I was on my stomach and the nuero told me this was normal. I am really afraid they wont put me on meds. Should I request a specific medicine? Should I push medication? I really dont want a shunt and I know losing weight can help but may no and I am down 42lbs so far. Any advice? thanks -Mary
Its so good to hear that you have gotten such relief from the shunt! You may be one of the lucky ones, where by an lp can keep you symptom free for a good while. That would be such good news!
Its way to early to be taking about a shunt,so relax.
A lot will depend on the Ophtht report. Do you know if you have paps? ( Sorry! I cant remember right now) if, you do they will more than likely start you on Diamox. Be ok with this as it will save your eye sight.
Diamox is a nasty drug but it does get easier as you go along . It takes about 6-8 weeks to really start working, and you will feel all the side effects with in days.
Most of us find, it makes you really tired. Like no tiredness you have had before.
You will have tingling of your fingers and toes.This, takes some getting use to.
You have to drink a lot of fluids which is easily done as you will be thirsty.
But, it really does get easier as the weeks pass.
The best of luck with the Ophtht in the morning. It will be ok, so relax .

Horrible as it is, you may not have all the symptoms that most experience. Wouldn't that be great?
But, if you do, read again what I wrote above. You have to make this drug your friend as it will save your eye sight.
