Does anyone know if there is there any restrictions on giving blood with PTC? Apparently there seems to be an over whelming demand for my blood type and I want to go give but don't want to if it is not advised. I could not think of any reasons why I couldn't but figured I'd ask on here! :-)

I would be very careful if you decided to give blood. It would be even more crucial to drink plenty of water and to eat before hand. I decided to give blood a while back and had a bad headache afterwards. The loss of blood volume made my IH headaches worse, but I didn't eat much afterwards. Just make sure to hydrate with plenty of water, some caffeine, and some fruit and gains. I ended up doing it again this spring and doing these steps made the headache not so bad. I had to watch when I did it since I was going to have surgery three months from the time I had the blood drawn, my blood volume was back to normal after two months so I was fine to go ahead and do it.

I told the ladies who were taking my blood that I had IH and Chiari and they seemed fine, but then again they didn't seem to know much about it.
One of my husband's soldiers was almost killed in a motorcycle accident last week (woman ran a red light and hit him, he has already lost one leg and is in critical care), anyway there is a huge shortage of people with A- blood (his blood type) in this area, to further complicate it, my blood type which is O- (the universal donor) is also seeming to run short, so they are pleading with anyone in the area with either of these types to donate blood. So because we have a connection to the guy and I have the right type of blood, I really want to help out just need to make sure it is safe!
