I finally got referred to the GI doctor and they were able to see me today since they had a cancellation (thank goodness). I told the doc my symptoms and he thinks it may be due to being on so many antibiotics in the hospital and states that some antibiotics can cause stomach and bowel "issues" resulting in an infection of the colon. So, he sent me home with a wonderful (sarcasm) kit and wants me to return it to the lab so they can test it and find out what is going on. I was just happy he didn't suggest a colonoscopy! lol! I've had one of those and absolutely was not wanting another one anytime soon if I can avoid it. I'm definitely glad I followed everyone's advice and persisted to find out what was going on because if it is what he thinks it is, the infection can only be treated with certain antibiotics. I will keep you all posted. Hope everyone is having HA free day! GBF

I'm just glad that you were able to get in and that they are going to be able to catch this bug early. Don't want you to end up like TJ did...that would be horrible.

Thanks ladies :) I'm glad they were able to get me in sooner too. Especially, since they were originally going to make me wait until mid August. I called them back and told them I needed to be seen sooner due to my shunt, etc. It's funny, becauase suddenly, they had a cancellation..lol! It pays to be persistent about your well being :) Thanks again! GBF

Glad you saw the Dr. and at least you don't have to have a colonoscopy. I think I have an ovarian cyst and am having it checked out. I saw my PCP and he had no idea of what it could be since no fever, throwing up and able to go to the bathroom okay...so he didn't want to do a CT scan yet. thanks for updating us, if I it cont's I will suggest I get a referral to a GI dr. Ah yes the "kit", good luck with that and I hope you are feeling better, Jazzy
