no. it depends on what the opening pressure is. they try to close you at a normal pressure. my son and I have been closed at 14. they usually have 3 or 4 vials they need to fill up, which take about 4-5 ml each. this is done regardless of the reason for the LP, to have the fluid for the standard tests. if your pressure was high they might have removed more.

what was your closing pressure? they might not have measured it if you were normal to start. the question is, how did you feel in the 24 hours after the tap? did you feel better, or worse, or no change?

They did not document the closing pressure. I felt great, I felt better for a week, I usually I feel for 3-4 weeks weels even normal opening pressures which is why my dr now thinks that I am just sensitive to changes in ICP. The lasix doesn't seem to be helping. He wants to try botox.

OK, so this is something that can happen when you have a stenosis. the stenosis develops because of the elevated pressure, and it becomes a vicious cycle where the stenosis then begets a higher pressure, and so on and so forth. then, having an LP can interrupt that cycle, at least until it gets started again. I saw it happen to my son 3 years ago when he had his last LP. he was better for at least 3 weeks. once the pressure drops, the vein "reinflates" so that the stenosis is gone for awhile. without the stenosis, the pressure stays down, until it rises enough to compress the vein again, which is clearly floppy. I was shocked to find out that one of my son's neurologists had never heard of this phenomenon, by which occasionally a person with IIH is cured by one LP. perhaps your neuro is one of those also. it's in the scientific literature if you read it at all.

So I do have stenosis on the right transverse sinus in some spots it's 100% and atresia on the right, but I have good blood few as per mrv and angiogram. The sea Neuro and neuro ophthalmologist (who works with a Neuro surgeon in stent cases) both day not to do a stent because the last two LPs were normal and I do not have papilledema. They said the only reason to consider it in my case would be for tinnitus that interfere with my daily quality of life not for headaches because there isn't enough research that it would solve the headaches.
Without going into details that would out who my dr is I have reason to believe that he is well read.

My opening pressure was 13 I felt great foe a week afterward. My neurologist put me on 20 mgs of lasix and 300 mgs of neurontin.
