You are mentally and emotionally stronger than any stupid piece of tubing ;)
For a while when thinking about LP shunts I thought about all the things I couldn't do anymore.. sports, skydiving, rough housing.. then I realized- I don't really do those anyway! Haha. And started to think about all the things I'd be able to do with less pain & symptoms: read a book for longer than a few minutes, take a really hot shower, go to a concert, sleep well, less medication, hang out with friends normally etc etc etc
In short: the worst is behind you, with any luck! :)
I'm glad you are feeling better but how come your eyes still hurt?
What about the hds? Are they gone?
I had the same reaction as you about having all this "stuff" inside my body.Kinda freaked me out, and I was surprised by my reaction, thought I would be fine with it.
i had to make myself not think about it.Really hard for a few weeks and then, it was all fine.
Now, I find myself gently rubbing my shunt, kind of a habit,Still don't care for the catheter in my neck and down my front but it doesn't freak me any more.
Put that thought behind you, and concentrate on getting better. Take your time,if you can. Little by little you will feel like your old self again, only better! Cath
