I have experienced double vision due to IIH, probably more so the severe papilledema, however it did not go away...once the double vision began, it remained as long as the pressure was elevated. During that time I also had a constant headache, definitely the worst headache of my life.

Do you think there was anything you did in the weeks past that would have caused a huge increase in pressure? Have you changed any medications recently?

Sorry you had to go through that by the way, having double vision is extremely frightening, it was for me at least.

Actually today I increased my Diamox. I have been on it for 3 weeks now. I had my ophthalmologist appt. on Tuesday and he did 3 D scans of my eyes. I was diagnosed on vacation in Indiana and it was the first time that I was seen by the Dr here. He showed me the scans and how much worse the right eye is compared to the left eye. I stay away from caffeine and aspartame. I am eating healthier and I have lost 6lbs. (8lbs as of this morning but I will wait a couple of days before I check in to make sure it is not a water fluctuation) I am newly diagnosed and I have been just trying to find my way with the help of people here on the site.
The drs here are not much help since the west side of Michigan does not have a high population of over weight people. Heck the assistants in the eye drs office here didn't have a clue of what I was talking about, but the doctor did....thank goodness. He was more inclined to send me to Grand Rapids to have eye surgery if I get worse than to have the shunt because he said the shunts just don't work for everyone but the eye surgery has shown great success.

I had double vision when I was first diagnosed. It lasted for over a month, but it was what made the dr's finally take my headaches seriously. After the first few weeks my right eye actually stopped being able to move! it was scary. The pressure from the IIH can cause 6th nerve palsey which can lead to things appearing beside each other, so that could be what is happening to you. If your pressure is up then it may be compressing the nerve.

thank you for helping me understand that key point. I did have a little double vision yesterday but again it went away. I will continue to log and write down my symptoms since I go back to the neurologist in a few weeks and I will be seeing my GP soon too.
