The thing that I would really like to see is a research study that looks at Diamox's effectiveness as measured by impact on CSF opening pressure (averages).
"Only 85 participants (47 [55%] in the acetazolamide group and 38 [48%] in the placebo group) agreed to a lumbar puncture at month 6.
The adjusted mean change in CSF pressure was 117.3 mm H2O (from 353.2 mm H2O at baseline to 235.9 mm H2O at month 6) in the acetazolamide group
and 72.2 mm H2O (from 353.2 mm H2O at baseline to 281.0 mm H2O at month 6) in the placebo group
(treatment effect, 45.0 mm H2O; 95% CI, 95.2 to 5.2 mm H2O; P = .08).
The mean dosage of study medication that participants were receiving at the conclusion of their participation was 2.5 g (SD, 1.5 g) in the acetazolamide group.
If you look at just the treatment effect then they have subtracted the placebo avg from the study group avg to give a measure of what the difference was for those who were on the drug - the 'effectiveness of the drug' which they put at 45.0 mm H2O for the 6 months ( which isnt a lot a a standard dose of 2.5g - this is why my neuro claims diamox doesnt lower pressure)
however there is more then one ways to slice statistics - and these are the msot basic possible. (and do bear in mind weather you are arguing for or against that only 55% came back for the month 6 LP so they had to extrapolate a lot of their data i the first place...)
And to lets face it hands up out there who would rather take the diamox and eat a low sodium diet and drop from 353 to 235 or who would rather not be on the diamox and stop at 281??? I know which group i would have wanted to have been in.....

and on a side note: people still reported pins and needles commonly.
so the pins and needles are not directly linked to the potassium.
