Hi everyone!

I was doing some cooking in the kitchen to prepare dinner for tonight and forgot I left a cabinet open and hit my head on the corner of it. I hit it right in front of the shunt. Whew, that was a close one! Should I be worried that I bumped my head? I guess I'm just paranoid because I don't want anything to happen...Hope everyone is having a headach free day :) GBF

Hi Greenbay,
I'm not sure about bumping your head since you had your VP shunt placed recently. Do you have a headache or any other symptoms that happened after you bumped your head?

Your not being paranoid, you have shunt in your head, I'd be freaked out if it happened to me.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having a headache or any funky symptoms. I bump my head all of the time - I get teased about needing a helmet. I have even bumped my shunt bump b/c it sticks out a bunch. It swelled a bit but it settled down after a day or two.

Watch out for those cabinet doors! :)

Thanks for your responses :) I got a headache last night, but I don't think it was due to me bumping my head. I think it was just a coincidence (sp?). I took one Benadryl and I don't think I will take it again any time soon. Even this morning it is making me feel "spacey"..lol!

Bianca-my friends tease me by saying I need to be in a bubble :)

I did it too. Banged it on the desk after going under to hook up computer. OUCH. But everything was ok.

I also fell and smacked my head so hard that when I was in the hospital I found out I actually had a subdural hemotoma (sp). My NS was not happy that I was not taking good care of his investment in my head.
